I recently had the privilege of working with my pal, Liene on the cover design of her first book. She’s a published author! Woo hoo!

I have worked with Liene on a variety of projects in the past, but this was my first time designing a book cover. We wanted to create something that looked interesting and well-designed, but not trendy. It had to appeal to both men and women, and as she put it: “I want it to look like a book someone wouldn’t be embarrassed to be seen reading on a plane.” So that eliminated my idea of incorporating the color pink, butterflies and any sexual euphemisms/scantily clad heroines. Hee hee. Kidding.

So here’s the end result. What do you think?

Back in business

Lets just ignore the lag in posts, shall we? Suffice it to say, the birth of my daughter was a total game changer. As my husband likes to say, “all the cliches are true.” We are totally, completely nuts about this kid.

I’m getting myself back on track after a busy holiday season. I’ll post some of my favorite card designs soon, stay tuned.

Hi, I’m back.

Hey all, my apologies for the blog “sabbatical”. It turns out Kelly Ashworth Design is expanding! And no, I’m not hiring interns and I’m not opening a new office in an exotic location. (Although, one day that would be fab!) I’m actually expecting Kelly Ashworth Design, Jr. He or she is due in October.

I have been really busy on the client end, but I’ve also been busy trying not to feel sick. It seems I have passed that stage (FINALLY) but now I realize I have neglected one of my most important business tools – my blog.

So just a quick note to say, sorry for the lag. I hope you’ll continue to read. Thanks, and you rock.

Now, for the fun stuff:I am having a lemon moment. It’s a craving, actually. I should really just consume lemonade via IV drip. So when I saw these in the new Real Simple, I really thought I should share. Lemon-flavored candy sugar straws. Edible. I could conceivably make my lemonade even more lemony.
