Beautiful Jewel Tone Wedding in the Desert

Darcy and Chuck were married this past November at the The Country Club at DC Ranch in Scottsdale. I had the pleasure of working with this wonderful couple and am so excited to be sharing some of the images from their special day!

The wedding was a mix of modern and traditional with splashes of gorgeous jewel tones and sparkle. The couple actually live in California, so they wanted to infuse desert elements throughout the stationery to get guests excited about a trip to the Valley of the Sun.

The Save the Date cards featured an abstract image of an agave plant and were printed on metallic pearl paper. The invitations (not pictured, but you can see them in my stationery portfolio) were letterpressed onto cotton paper and incorporated a pattern used throughout the wedding site.

The wedding day items also featured this pattern, but we introduced some bold colors so they wouldn’t get lost when paired with the floral and linens. I would describe the end result as bright, bold, modern and happy. Four of my most favorite adjectives!

The Best of 2011

I love seeing all of these 2011 Retrospective’s from various people in the creative community. I think Jordan’s were my favorite. It’s always fun to put all of the work you did together in one place – I did a lot more in 2011 than I realized!

As Seen in Arizona Bride Magazine

The new issue of Arizona Bride is now on newsstands and I’m so excited to see that both Shannon & Cody and Teresa & Mike’s weddings have been featured! In addition to these beautiful weddings, my work was also featured in an invitations piece entitled “First Impressions”.

Wedding Save the Date Card Etiquette

I recently finished up some Save the Date cards for the cutest bride! Lindsey and Brandon will be tying the knot in the fall, and the bride-to-be wanted to incorporate some rustic charm with a monogram that was designed by a close friend.

In addition to some beautiful, swirly typography, Lindsey is working with a beautiful palate of greens and browns. Here’s a sampling of the Save the Date card:

A few tips for any bride considering sending out Save the Dates:

• Plan on sending Save the Dates anywhere from 6-9 months in advance. Allot more time if you are having a destination wedding. Guests will need to book flights and hotels and schedule vacation days well in advance.

• Consider creating a wedding website and listing it on your Save the Date cards. (I omitted Lindsey & Brandon’s to respect their privacy on this blog). There are loads of free site builders available, and if you want something super duper, consider ordering a custom site from my pal, Ryan Brannen.

A wedding website is a great way to share important information with guests. In addition to the obvious, (photos, ceremony and reception information) a wedding website is a sneaky, yet acceptable way of sharing your registry information. You’ll also want to list hotel information, directions or a general area map, as well as fun things to do for out-of-town guests.

• Unlike Wedding Invitations, Save the Dates can be more light hearted or casual. You may take this opportunity to do something to show your silly side, which is entirely OK. Many brides also use the Save the Date as a starting point to establish the look of the entire wedding. Also OK.

While Save the Date cards are by no means necessary to send, they do serve a purpose. And they are a perfect excuse to start early on your wedding stationery, which is always a winning argument in my book.

Teresa and Mike were married Saturday at DC Ranch, and I had the opportunity to stop by to take a few photos while everything was being set up. Let me just begin by saying that Teresa goes in my client Hall of Fame for being so much fun to work with. I was actually a little sad that my “summer of Teresa” was coming to an end.

Obviously these photos won’t compare to Hollye’s (who shot the wedding), but I thought I’d share a few of my favorites.

{ Since this wedding was on the smaller side (only 39 guests) we created a seating chart that also becomes a wedding souvenir for Teresa & Mike. }

{ each place setting was accented with a single gerber daisy }

The Flower Studio created the gorgeous floral displays, and Hollye Schumacher shot the wedding. (Her photos never cease to amaze me!)

Phoenix Wedding at The Royal Palms – Shannon + Cody

Shannon and Cody, also knows as “Shanody” (their celebrity nickname) were married in April at The Royal Palms. This magnificent affair was coordinated by Victoria Canada Weddings & Events, with floral provided by The Flower Studio.

They went for an ultra chic black and white color scheme with subtle pops of purple and fuchsia.

And boy did they pull out all the stops for this wedding! From a photo booth to a cigar roller, they really went the extra mile to make this wedding a blast for their lucky guests.

Phoenix Wedding at Desert Botanical Gardens – Kristen & Tracey

Kristen and Tracey were married in April at the beautiful Desert Botanical Garden in Phoenix.

I first met with Kristen awhile back to design their save the date cards.

One thing became glaringly apparent when I first met with Kristen. This girl was not afraid of color. When I asked her what colors she was using in her wedding palate, she more or less responded “all of them.” What a breath of fresh air! I appreciate a neutral palate as much as the next gal, but if you’re getting married at a Botanical Garden, it’s OK to break away from a champagne/ivory/beige color scheme.

Pink and Purple Jewel Toned Save the Dates

Just got done with some super cute Save the Dates for an equally cute couple. Stephanie is working with a rich jewel tone palate, including the pinks and purples you see here. Pattern is also high on her list of priorities, which you’ll see in the envelope liner and the address label.

In addition to the Save the Date, she included hotel information and a Rehearsal Dinner/Farewell Brunch invitation for her guests.

Multi-tasking, I like it.

Side note: when she’s not hard at work planning her spectacular wedding with her talented planner, you’ll find Stephanie running the COOLEST nail salon in town, Sundrops Nail Spot.

Stop in for a mani/pedi and make sure to gush about her fabulous Save the Dates…

Modern Wedding at the Bentley Projects – Anita & Steven

Anita and Steven were married in January and had a wonderfully mod reception at Bentley Projects (great venue for you art lovers!) I enjoyed working with them immediately because you could tell they were really excited and in love. I love this photo of them (below) because you can see a subtle glimmer of mischief in their eyes.

Their letterpressed invitations were mounted to two shades of metallic blue and featured some cool staggered type and blind embossing. We also did a custom map for guests to find their way from the church to the downtown Phoenix venue.

Sandy Walker was the talented coordinator behind this fantastic wedding, and Hollye Schumacher took these gorgeous photos.
